Hungary’s Coolest Offices of 2016 Announced

The Office of the Year contest (“Az Év Irodája”) broke records as 136 world-class tenders arrived in nine categories as well as 430 prominent personalities of the real estate market were present at the Award Gala in the Castle Garden Bazaar (Várkert Bazár). The professional jury of property market experts handed out 14 awards in 9 categories after closing the public vote.

The high number of the applicants proved that healthy, creative workplaces of high standards are gaining more and more importance in the Hungarian real estate market. Both in Budapest and in the countryside; big companies as well as smaller firms have put a greater emphasis on shaping the office environment. Realization of successful world trends is a base but local solutions and individual characteristics of the company culture can also be found.

The Castle Garden Bazaar (Várkert Bazár), Budapest's newly restored unique jewelry box served as the venue of the ”7th Office of the Year Award Gala” which shows the growing prestige of the event. ”The Castle Garden Bazaar, the historical centre of Hungary is a symbolic venue for us showing that the gala is the most important property market event of the year, where we celebrated the winners together with 430 property market experts.” –explained Mr Zotán Kalmár, founder of the event.

“The latest trends defining and shaping the market are always visible at the contest. Well-being and employer branding have been the crucial strategical elements in office development this year. Almost everything evolves around these two key factors” – added Kalmár.

Beside the green business strategy and people-oriented work culture is in the focus, while designers and employers satisfy all the needs of the younger generations. Office design and work process have also been defined by the developments of the digital age. New and renovated office buildings tend to offer personalised services. Awards of the Office of the Year are regarded as proxy indicators of the office market.
